On Monday's game against Philadelphia Eagles, the QB Cam Newton with his four TD: throwing two touchdown passes in the first half and running for two in the second half, led the Panthers to a 30-22 victory over the Eagles. He is the first player to have such performance since Jeff Garcia did that for the 49ers against the Saints in 2000, which made him the the first quarterback in NFL history to rush for 20 touchdowns in his first two NFL seasons, and which also made him to be named NFC Offensive Player of the Week 12. This marks Newton's second player-of-the-week honor, first achieved as a rookie in a Week 13 victory at Tampa Bay. And it also marks the 14th time an offensive player has won the award for the Panthers. 

Newton is only 23 years old with 2-year experience. In  the overall pick of 2011, he ranked No.1. In his first year, Newton lived up to the hype by throwing for 4,051 yards with 21 TD passes and 14 TDs on the ground . So he entered this game with only nine TD passes and four TDs rushing, a major disappointment for Panthers fans. But he came back and outshined rookie seventh-round pick Nick Foles in his Monday night debut. 

In the 2011 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, Newton had circled this date as a chance to face his idol Michael Vick on the national stage since his was a little schoolboy. Although he didn't get that wish, it still was a very special night for him. At that time, Newton finished 18-of-28 passing for 306 yards, the two TDs and no turnovers in all, and that was his best effort of the season.

When the game at Atlanta and Chicago, the Panthers lost six games by less than one touchdown. But they showed they were actual better than theri before record. Newton led a 95-yard drive to open the third quarter, finishing it off with a 1-yard leap to give the Panthers a 21-15 lead. Furthermore, he hit Louis Murphy for a 55-yard gain on a second-and-11 from Carolina's 16. He himself said, "I think my best game is still to come. I'm still focused on getting better each and every week." After Carolina went ahead 24-22 early in the fourth quarter on Graham Gano's 23-yard field goal, the coach Ron Rivera of Panthers said, "It's been a long time in coming. Lots of people contributed and made plays. Real proud of what we did and the things we did to give ourselves a chance to win."

For the splendid performance from Newton on Monday night, the fans were very happy and spoke highly of him. They thought he was young not doing everything perfectlym, but he was calm and didn't try to force anything and make mistakes. His way of playing had impressed much on the fans. They felt that waching his game would be fun even though he lost some times. 

Many people forecast that Newton's good time are likely to continue as he heads to Arrowhead to face a Chiefs defense.
