The God seems to be unfair to the New York Yankees. Good Players continue to be out of the game because of the injury. They have already lost Curtis Granderson, who hit a total of 84 home runs in the last two season, the only player in MLB since the start of 2011 to hit at least 80 home runs, the major power hitter of Yankees. He won't be back until the first week of May because of broken forearm. Right-hander Phil Hughes has a sore back and Alex Rodriguez has hip surgery, out of the game too. Brian Cashman, the general manager of Yankees broke his leg and dislocated his ankle in a skydiving accident on Monday. And now, the team has another major loss--Mark Teixeira. The Gold Glove first baseman hurt himself taking swings at a batting tee Tuesday, having been away WBC. He will be out of the lineup for 8-10 weeks at least with wrist tendon injury. 

Cashman said,"it's a tough loss." "it's not what you want, but it's waht you've got to deal with," Yankees manage Joe Girardi said. "it's life."


So Yankees are a mess right now, losing 2 major powers at the same time. The team will be evaluating both first basemen and third basemen as the spring continues, the two manager said so. 

"Third base is very difficult," Cashman said. "First is always easier to fill than third." 

Fortunately, Robinson Cano is healthy. He hit 33 HR last season and continues to be better. His OBP, slugging percentage, home runs and walk rate all increased from 2011 to 2012. Cano has taken over the mantle as Yankees' most important position player in the three season since the team's last World Series title. 


And Yankees has Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera and Brett Gardner's return, good news to the team and the fans anyway. 

"People get hurt ... get hurt on our team, people get hurt on other teams," Yankees captain Derek Jeter said. "The good teams find ways to get it done, and that's what you're going to have to do." 

Jeter is making progress toward playing in his first game since offseason ankle surgery. He said,"I'm getting close. I'm headed in the right direction. My ankle feels good. I'll be in there as soon as I can play. Whenever I'm able to do it, I'll do it."
